Overview

There is only one place for white water rafting in Sri Lanka – The Kelani river in Kithulgala. Being one of the safest, most scenic and thrilling rivers around the world available for commercial white water rafting, the river Kelani is the ideal place for you to have your first rafting trip. Our 3 km beginner stretch has 7 rapids (with interesting names) in total, all falling into classes II and III. Meet our team, strap on your gear, get inducted with a thorough safety briefing, and we guarantee that this will be one of the (if not the TOP) highlight experiences of Sri Lanka. Don’t just take our word though, come cruise down the pristine Kelani as she winds down through the lush green mountains and brave her white waters and find out why we are crazy about rafting.

This activity is suitable for everyone above 8. For kids below the age of 8, we have a shorter stretch with class I rapids further down the river.

What to bring

  • Clothes for the water – you don’t need thermal wear as the water in SL never gets too cold
  • Appropriate footwear – it will get wet
  • Waterproof camera – you can also hire a GoPro from us to record your adventure.

Location

Kithulgala

Kithulgala is easily the adventure sports capital of Sri Lanka. It is a quaint little town by the banks of the Kelani river which is surrounded by mountains that give birth to many streams and waterfalls. Lush green forests, as well as tea and rubber plantations, occupy the vistas wherever you choose to roam. The terrain is ideal for many sports such as White water rafting, canyoning, abseiling, rock climbing, cycling, hiking & trekking. The rainforests here are home to an abundance of wildlife especially endemic birds, making it a bird watchers paradise as well.
